Client Situation:

A large US investor-owned utility sought to dynamically integrate the potential for Distributed Energy Resources (DER), energy efficiency and electric vehicle penetration into their scenario-based integrated resource plan.  Internal forecasting tools for the penetration of these technologies were not detailed or comprehensive enough to adequately represent the diversity of the Integrated Resource Planning  scenarios.

 
 
 

Our Solution:

We worked with our client to understand the technology, regulatory, macro-economic, social and customer preference assumptions that drove their IRP  scenarios.  We integrated these sets of correlated assumptions with our DER Economics Tool and DER Penetration Tool to develop a dynamically linked set of outcomes related to DER, EE, and EV penetration and the associate impact on load and resource need for the utility.
